Liborius-Kapelle Ernzen
Echternacherbrück
The Liborius Chapel stands high above the Sûre Valley.
St. Liborius was a bishop a long time ago.
A steep path leads up to the chapel.
It has many steps.
There used to be a chapel there many years ago.
However, it was destroyed over 70 years ago during the Second World War.
The new chapel has been standing on the same spot for a few years now.
There is a viewing platform in front of the chapel.
The platform is easy to reach.
From there you can see a town.
It is the oldest town in the country of Luxembourg.
It is called Echternach.
Echternach is home to the Willibrord Basilica.
And the former abbey.
The view is very beautiful.
There is a tactile model on the platform.
You can touch the tactile model.
This allows you to experience the nature and buildings of the Sûre Valley.
It shows everyone the shapes and sizes.
The tactile model has a dotted font.
It is for blind and visually impaired people.
A wheelchair fits under the tactile model.
So everyone can discover the Liborius Chapel and the Sûre Valley with their own hands.
The conversion of the platform was paid for almost entirely by the European Union.
The Southern Eifel Nature Park also contributed.
And many others.
The local community of Ernzen.
The local community of Echter-Nacher-Brück.
The municipality of Südeifel.
The Eifelverein and many more.
